MURALS transform spaces.
What was once a plain uninviting wall, can become a statement artwork capturing attention, reflecting your brand and story, or just creating a happy mood or inviting atmosphere.
There are so many reasons to add a mural to your space! Did you know murals are tax deductible, can help protect a wall from the elements and can draw people to your business or place for tourism.

MURAL FAQ
What are the steps for getting a mural?
-We discuss your idea, I hear your design concepts and themes, whether you just want me to paint it or whether you would like the community or students to be involved in a workshop format.
-A site visit is booked, but if the distance is too far, then photos of the wall in question need to be sent through with accurate measurements.
- I design a mood board free of charge to confirm I understand your direction, this also includes a quote. If after seeing this, you are wanting to go ahead with the mural, then a design deposit of $300 is given (which is absorbed into the mural cost once it goes ahead).
- The design goes through two rounds for feedback, and once confirmed a date is locked in for the mural to begin.
-Murals are weather dependant if outdoors, so a rough timeframe can only be given for start and completion.
How much do murals cost?
The cost is dependant on a few varying factors
What type of wall it is. The substrate whether a smooth indoor wall compared to a galvanised shed outdoor surface, has a large impact on the labour time the mural requires. So per square metre the price varies between $150-$220 for an artistic mural design installation. Prime and Prep is $20-$30 per square metre, depending on the condition of the wall. The optional anti graffiti coat which adds an extra UV barrier, allows it to be easily cleaned and protects against most graffiti is $20-$30 per square metre. Lastly travel cost is based on NAVA industry standards. However all this aside if you have a specific budget for a project, it is worth mentioning this, as a design can be factored to meet your budget, that requires less labour intensity.
How long do murals last?
Murals should last a minimum of 5 years, and even up to 20 years, depending on a few factors. Firstly the substrate original condition… if a wall has water issues, or rust, and the cause is not addressed, this will still affect the wall down the track and could cause vulnerabilities of paint bubbling and flaking, or rust erosion. The direction that an outdoor wall faces for example if North or West will receive more sun than a Southern or Eastern facing wall so would fade quicker over 20 years. A anti graffiti coat with extra UV barrier, and choosing the best condition wall for your space with a maintenance plan of washing your mural once a year should extend the life of your mural to the 20 year mark with the excellent quality paints that Dulux and Resene produce in this generation.
